World Day of Prayer

World Day of Prayer (WDP) is a global movement which was founded in 1887 and begun in Scotland in 1930.  It is a movement of “informed prayer and prayerful action”, organised by Christian women and offered to all.  WDP covers some 180 countries and a wide range of traditions, using material produced in over 1000 languages.

The main focus is the annual global Day of Prayer on the first Friday of March, based on material on an agreed chosen theme with services prepared by women from a different country each year.

The 2020 Service, with other material, has been created by Christian women in Zimbabwe on the suggested theme “Rise! Take Your Mat and walk!”.
