Sign Christian Aid’s Jubilee Debt Relief petition

We have all been affected in some way by the devastating impact of coronavirus.

As the pandemic has spread in many of the poorest countries, our neighbours around the world have been hit even harder, often without the same safety nets we’ve seen at home.

The most vulnerable have been falling ill and the economic impacts have left people who were already struggling, without a way to feed their families and survive this crisis. The World Bank estimates that an additional 60 million people risk falling into extreme poverty.

You can help prevent people from suffering and dying due to the health and economic impacts of the pandemic by supporting calls for a debt ‘jubilee’ – requested by governments of poor and vulnerable countries. This would mean debt repayments of poor countries are cancelled during this crisis.

A degree of debt relief was granted in April of this year, but this did not go nearly far enough.

Will you call on the chancellor, Rishi Sunak to broker a more ambitious debt relief deal for the poorest countries?
