Signpost International
Following notice of the ending of our sponsorship of Aldrian Songgaling of North Baluarte in the Philippines, whose final letter to us is on the porch noticeboard, we have news of Christian Paul Calero whom we are now invited to sponsor.
By sponsoring him, we are contributing to Signpost International's support of the whole community of West Habog Habog, which has some 1180 families, with an average household income of £12 per month. The majority of residents in the area are economic migrants from the rural north, living in houses made from non-permanent materials (bamboo poles + plastic sheeting) which provide scant protection from regular tropical storms.
Under SI's sponsorship scheme, the money is invested in the sponsored child's community through projects to provide
- clean water
- education for children and adults
- livelihood training and income-generating opportunities
- safe, secure shelter
- health education, care, and life-saving medical treatment
- recreational activities
- medical and accident cover.
David Easson (Church Treasurer) acts as our link with Signpost International, and a monthly Standing Order sends the sponsorship from our funds. If you would like to know more or make a personal contribution towards this sponsorship, please see David.
