29 March 2015
Next Sunday 5 April 2015
Easter Sunday
- 11 am
- Easter Celebration through Hymns,
Readings and Reflections, led by Mrs Jenny Easson
We give the assurance of our thoughts and prayers to all who are unwell, awaiting or undergoing treatment, or anxious or grieving for the loss of loved ones.
Holy Week Fast
Heather Dean draws our attention to the suggestion from
Church Action on Poverty that a Fast be undertaken on 3
consecutive days during Holy Week. See
booklet for details.
Easter Worship in Marketgait
The Easter Sunday Service will be an “Easter Celebration
in Hymns and Readings”. An invitation is given to
everyone to bring fresh daffodils to place in vases round
the Church during worship; a short Prayer of Dedication
for the Vase in Memory of Jean McNab will be included.
Easter Offering Envelopes
Envelopes are being distributed today, for return next
Sunday or in subsequent weeks, through the offering plate.
This annual
Appeal is in support of the world-wide Church
and the theme this year is “The Tree of Life”
from
Methodist Women in Britain which we have followed in our weekly Lenten
Liturgy.
Doors Open Day 2015
We have been sent the registration form for Dundee's Doors
Open Days on Saturday - Sunday 19th - 20th September. If you think we
should consider providing an opportunity for the public to come and
see our premises and something of who we are and what we do, please let a Church Steward
know today so we can now decide and, if so agreed,
register, plan, and prepare. Comments received so
far are generally in favour of “doing something”
on the Sunday as the day when we are gathered together for
worship and fellowship.
(Jenny Easson, Senior Church Steward).
Pastoral Committee résumé
The Committee met on Thursday for a regular review
of care of Members and others, and for consideration
of general pastoral issues.
The Committee was pleased to agree arrangements
for the Confirmation of Joseph during worship on Sunday
19th April. This Service includes Holy Communion, which
will not now be celebrated the following week as indicated
on the Plan.
UNICEF Vanuatu Appeal
As regular supporters of UNICEF via the annual Jars of Grace
appeal, information was sent to us anent the appeal for funds
to assist in relief and reconstruction following the recent
devastation of Vanuatu by Cyclone Pam.
It is estimated that some 60,000 children are in need of immediate help and support is also urgently required for the whole population and infrastructure of the islands.
A retiring offering, via a plate near the door, is available today; donations may also be given to the Church Treasurer, David Easson.
Dundee Methodists and Food Banks - updates
- Our continued support for the Dundee Foodbank has again
received thank from its organisers.
- Please place items in the large bucket on the upstairs
landing - clean plastic bags are also welcome.
