18 November 2012
We give the assurance of our thoughts and prayers to all who are unwell, awaiting or undergoing treatment, or anxious or grieving for the loss of loved ones.
Our thoughts and prayers continue for the Rev Mary Patterson who is not undertaking ministerial duties for health reasons. If there is a pastoral need for a Minister, please contact either the Rev Gerald Bostock or the Rev Jean Murrie. We prayerfully remember them and other Circuit Leadership Team members working on behalf of the Circuit with the Rev Lily Twist (Chair of District and acting Superintendent).
This week, two more visits by the engineers have taken place to correct last Sunday's unexpected and loud “Shriek”. It is hoped by everyone that all possible problems have been identified and resolved since the latest main part is from a different manufacturer. Advice has been circulated to Stewards and other likely users, but everyone is asked to note that the controls have been set and should not be altered - all that is required is to switch on at the wall plug inside the cupboard. However, to use the CD player, please follow directions given and remember that the key word is “green”.
Is there anyone who has not done this training yet or who would like to do it whether required to or not? Please let Alan or 'tricia know as soon as possible please.
Copies on table - : £3.15.
“November is MOVEMBER month, when men of a certain age decide to forego modern fashion conventions and grow a moustache, for one month only, in support of men's health (specifically prostate & testicular cancer).
If anyone would like to sponsor me this month, I have a page at http://mobro.co/azjackson where you can make a donation. I also accept donations in cash if preferred.
I am also open to suggestions on the type of moustache to go for. Examples of a variety of styles can be found at http://kikeinosocks.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/moustaches-types.jpg?w=510.
Please bear in mind that I need to preserve a certain degree of dignity, so I'm unlikely to opt for a Fu Manchu or the full RAF Handlebar.
Many thanks to you for reading - I hope you will be moved to make a donation, however large.”
Information has been sent, from The Scottish Government, to draw attention to this Campaign, launched on 22nd October, to highlight the importance for everyone- including businesses and other organisations - to “think ahead” and “be prepared” in the event of severe weather. The encouragement is to do this on behalf of others, as well as for ourselves as individuals.
Please see information provided (posters, etc) and website http://readyscotland.org./partnership.
Feedback on the materials provided or questions about the campaign should be addressed to Cara Sutherland tel: 0131 561 8728 or email: cara.sutherland@leith.co.uk
