Easter Offerings

General Church Meeting

The General Church Meeting will be on Saturday 19th May from 10am (coffee); please note the date now.

The Methodist Handwritten Bible

One of each of the bound copies is to be gifted to each Methodist District next year for retention and use within its area. One copy was on display at Synod yesterday (which may be in Marketgait today), and the whole Handwritten Bible can be viewed online via “Methodist Handwritten Bible” links.

Riverside Blairgowrie anniversary

Our Circuit Colleagues draw our attention to their forthcoming 125th anniversary celebrations, being arranged for the weekend of Saturday 25th - Sunday 26th August. They will be grateful for our support at planned events and also for loan of any memorabilia and/or sharing of memories of Blairgowrie Methodism. Please contact Rev Jean Murrie or a Blairgowrie Steward to offer help.

Fiji Flood Relief

A solidarity grant of £10k has been made from the World Mission Fund to the Methodist Church in Fiji following recent flooding caused by torrential storms, which have hit the western part of the islands for the third time this year.

Donations to the Fund can be made online, or by cheque posted to the Methodist Church 'World Mission Fund', Methodist Church House, 25 Marylebone Road, London NW1 5RJ,or to David Easson as our Church Treasurer.

Friday 4th May 2012, 12 noon - 1 pm YMCA 151 Brook Street, Broughty Ferry (opposite “M&S Food”) (map) Broughty Ferry Churches Group Christian Aid lunch. Soup (choice from 3 or more) is served with bread & cheese, followed by coffee (plus occasional shortbread!) for £2, in support of this ecumenical aid, relief and development charity. A warm welcome is given to all to come and share food and fellowship regularly or from time to time.

Scottish Bible Society

Our support through the Bible-a-Month Club is invited in April for work in Romania and in May for work in Ghana.

Our prayerful attention is drawn this week to

  • distribution of free Bibles in Ghana;
  • reception by SBS on Tuesday and exhibit in the Scottish Parliament, Holyrood, Edinburgh;
  • publication of the first Bible in Lacid, in Burma.
