URGENT: ActionforChidren asks for your vote TODAY

The Dundee Families Project has contacted us to request Dundee Methodists' support of its application for funding through the RBS Community Force Scheme, eg for provision of creche facilities for “families in crisis”.

There is more information on the distributed flyers or see http://communityforce.rbs.co.uk/project/389; www.actionforchildren.org.uk/ for details.

TODAY IS THE DEADLINE: DON'T DELAY!!

October Café Service

The work of the Link Club will provide the focus for our Café-style all-age worship next Sunday. The aim is to help the congregation as a whole to know more of the Club's work and as a way of observing “Mission in Britain” Sunday. The Club's 'Church Helpers' have worked together to prepare material for this Service, with the support of others in the Club.

Giving to the Church by Standing order

For details of regular support of the church by Standing Order - which helps budgetting and quicker counting - please contact David Easson, Church Treasurer.

“Jars of Grace”

Jars are still available for our annual support of the work of UNICEF (originally the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, now the United Nations Children's Fund); please return jars during worship next Sunday 30th October or thereafter. The money placed in the Jars ('before eating a meal' is suggested) supports the focus of this year's Appeal:

'helping to prevent and treat child malnutrition around the world from Niger to Nepal, from Guatemala to Yemen'.

For more information see Jar leaflets / labels, www.unicef.org.uk, or contact Mary F.

“Discipleship” booklets and the “Church Consultation”

As recently intimated, the Church Council is convening a special Open Meeting for ALL Dundee Methodists and friends, over and after a faith lunch following worship on Sunday 6th November. This is to support our participation in the wider discussions and decisions of the Circuit, District and Connexion in the light of the demands and challenges facing the Church as a whole and in its various parts.

There will be a Special Circuit Meeting (open to anyone) on November 23rd to take forward the views of the five congregations in the Angus Dundee & Perthshire Circuit.

The “Discipleship” booklets (available from last week) have been obtained to help prior individual reflection on some of the wider themes and issues: please make sure you have access to and read these booklets before the Open Meeting, as 'background material'.

Church Council members hope that there will be as full support of the Open meeting as possible; if you cannot be there, please convey your thoughts to the Rev Mary Patterson or a Dundee member of the Circuit Meeting (Tom P, Alan, David E, Heather, 'tricia or Lorna).

“Tell. Show. Be”

The 'viral video' produced by the Methodist Church has won first prize at the recent Christian New Media Awards. “Tell. Show. Be” is a short film with a simple message about the heart of evangelism -'Tell Somebody. Show Somebody. Be Somebody'. The film (which is also available in Welsh, Mandarin, Portuguese, & Spanish, and downloadable onto computers and mobile phones) is hosted on www.tellshowbe.com and was conceived as “a means of enabling people to talk about evangelism in their own language”. It is attracting interest ecumenically and world-wide.
