Lent Observance

  • Dundee City Centre Churches will share in studying material by Spurgeon on Tuesday at 7.30 pm in Meadowside St Paul's Church (lower hall); material available at meeting.
  • The Broughty Ferry Churches Group will share in a Study Group on Wednesday at 7.30 pm in Broughty Ferry Baptist Church Hall, 86 St Vincent Street on the topic “Separation and Unity” from the CTBI material 'Reconciliation Together'.
  • Riverside Methodist Church Blairgowrie, will be hosting a series of Lent Talks, supported by EPACTS (East Perthshire Action of Churches Together in Scotland), at 7.30pm as follows:
    • Wed 23rd March: 'Is Faith in God a Creator necessary?' - Rev Fraser Penny;
    • Sun 27 March: 'Our Moral Choices' - Dr Jim McManus;
    • Wed 6 April: 'Richness of Diversity' - Dr Bill Reid
    • Sun 10 April: 'Caring for the Environment' - Rt Rev Bruce Cameron

Year of the Bible 2011

The 'Dig Deeper' Group will meet on Thursday 24th March, with Sunday 27th March as an alternative or second session. The book which forms the basis of the sessions can be accessed on www.thegoodbook.co.uk/dig-deeper, with a copy and discounted copies also available from Tom Penman.

Maundy Thursday Passover Meal

Dundee Methodists are to host an ecumenical simple Passover-type Meal in Marketgait on the evening of Thursday 21st April. The Rev Mary Patterson would be grateful if those willing to share in the hosting and / or taking part in the Meal would meet with her to help with the planning. If you are interested, please contact Mary (01674 672373 or maryp57@yahoo.com ) as soon as possible so a convenient date, time and place can be agreed to meet, share thoughts and plan this Meal.

The Rev. Dr Olav Fiske Tveit, General Secretary of the World Council of Churches, has called upon churches around the world to pray for Japan and the Japanese people.

Friday 25th March, 12 noon - 1 pm YMCA 151 Brook Street, Broughty Ferry (opposite “M&S Food”) (map) Broughty Ferry Churches Group Christian Aid lunch. Soup - a good selection each week - is served with bread & cheese, followed by coffee for £2, in support of this ecumenical aid, relief and development charity. The lunches last year raised over £2,000 for Christian Aid. A warm welcome is given to all to come and share food and fellowship regularly or from time to time.

Scottish Bible Society

Our support through the Bible-a-Month Club is invited for work in March for work in Croatia. See noticeboard in library area for more information.

Our prayerful attention is drawn this week to

  • popular Bible competitions among young people in Kenya;
  • launch of the Chikagulu New Testament in Tanzania;
  • purchase of a small building to help the Bible Society in Nepal's work in translation and production;
  • desired impact of newly-translated Scriptures among the people of Mongolia.
