Thursday 23rd September 2010, 7 pm Dundee Methodist Church “L” Bible Reading Group: a warm welcome is given to anyone interested to join “the regulars” as they work their way through the book of Amos. For more information, contact Tom Penman.
Friday 24th September, 12 noon - 1 pm YMCA 151 Brook Street, Broughty Ferry (opposite “M&S Food”) (map) Broughty Ferry Churches Group Christian Aid lunch. Soup - a good selection each week - is served with bread & cheese, followed by coffee for £2, in support of this ecumenical aid, relief and development charity. The lunches last year raised over £2,000 for Christian Aid. A warm welcome is given to all to come and share food and fellowship regularly or from time to time.

Support other Organisations

Scottish Churches House Prayer Network

Daily Prayers are said in the Chapel from 9 am to 9.15 am; Network members are particularly asked to join with many others on Wednesdays (see leaflets on noticeboard & table).

Prayers are invited this week for meetings and events in the House: United Free Church In Service Conference (Tuesday - Thursday), Quakers East of Scotland Elders (Friday - Saturday), private booking (next weekend).

Scottish Bible Society

Our support through the Bible-a-Month Club is invited for work in September in Panama. See noticeboard for more information.

Our prayerful attention is drawn this week to

  • witness of the Christian minority (Western, Chinese, and tribal) in oil-rich Brunei;
  • United Bible Societies' World Assembly in South Korea;
  • new leadership for the Bible Society in Cambodia;
  • opportunities and “open doors” for witness and work in isolated North Korea;
  • completion of the Revised Thai Bible and launch of new Scripture resources in Thailand.

Friday 8th October 2010, 7.30 pm Tollcross Central Hall, 2 West Tollcross, Edinburgh, EH3 9BP Concert by Dunedin Wind Band and the Edinburgh section of NYCOS in aid of the Samaritans and the Leith Acorn Centre ('a Methodist outreach'. This will be the final concert at Tollcross; as part of the restructuring of Methodist work in the City, the decision has been taken to sell Tollcross Central Hall.
Saturday 23rd October 2010 PGL, Dalguise, Dunkeld PH8 0JX The Methodist Big Day Out for Young People in Scotland - for young people aged 12-18 - outdoor pursuits, chill time, group discussion, worship.
