Dundee Methodist Church

17 October 2010

Next Sunday: 24 October 2010 - Bible Sunday

11 am
Worship led by the Rev Jean Murrie, including distribution of UNICEF “Jars of Grace”

We give the assurance of our thoughts and prayers to all who are unwell, awaiting or undergoing treatment, or anxious or grieving for the loss of loved ones.

UNICEF Jars of Grace

As is our custom in Dundee, “Jars of Grace” will be handed out during next Sunday's worship for return on Sunday 7th November.

Café Service - Jenny's Request

“I hope to be able to lead worship at the Café Service on 31st October. To ensure that preparations are well in hand, both for myself or a colleague Preacher if needed, I aim to put together an outline / “script” in the coming weeks. If you are willing to take part (material available), please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks!”

Micah Challenge 2010

Those who attended last Sunday's Service with the Vice-President of Conference, Deacon Eunice Attwood may care to read Eunice's blog which contains two photos of the event.

A bigger version of the Micah Challenge picture is on display upstairs in Marketgait on the inside board. See how many of the congregation you can identify!

Also - and more importantly - don't forget to take up the Micah Challenge in support of progress to “halve poverty by 2015”.

One World Week: 17th - 24th October

The theme for this year is “Peacing Together One World” as part of the “UN Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World”.

One World Week is concentrating on the three areas most closely related to its vision and aims:

  • Promoting sustainable economic and social development
  • Promoting respect for all human rights
  • Advancing understanding, tolerance and solidarity

A culture of peace can be established at many levels:

  • through personal inner peace;
  • peace within the family;
  • harmony within the community, between communities and across faiths;
  • justice and non-violence on a global scale.

Lunch Invitation

On Sunday 21st November there will be a “Faith Lunch” after worship to give an opportunity to meet people new to the Dundee area, especially students - and to have chance for longer chat with others also!
