Christian Aid Week

Our support is invited for all events and collections during this week - as throughout the year. As our link person, Margaret will be happy to receive and forward money from anyone whose “door-to-door” envelope has not been collected, from envelopes available in Marketgait, or any other donations.

Suggested donation £6, including tea / coffee afterwards - proceeds in aid of Dundee West Coffee Shop (SCO17136). See poster on noticeboard.
Friday 14th May, 12 noon - 1.30 pm YMCA 151 Brook Street, Broughty Ferry (opposite “M&S Food”) (map) Broughty Ferry Churches Group Christian Aid lunch. Soup - a good selection each week - is served with bread & cheese, followed by coffee for £2, in support of this ecumenical aid, relief and development charity. There is also opportunity for meeting old friends and making new ones. A warm welcome is extended to Ferry Folk, people popping out from Dundee, and other visitors.

Scottish Churches House Prayer Network

Prayers are invited this week for meetings and events in the House, including Association of Teachers of Religious Education in Scotland (ATRES) (this weekend), BAT Training Day and Rowan Consultancy (Monday), One World Linking Association, Local Wildlife group and Artist's Way (Tuesday), SDA-Kinship (next weekend), Order of the Cross (Saturday-Sunday).

We are also asked to remember the Volunteers, including Jenny who returns to Germany this month, and Zlatina just arrived from Bulgaria.

Scottish Bible Society

Our support through the Bible-a-Month Club is invited for work in May for work in Kazakhstan. See noticeboard for more information. Our prayerful attention is drawn this week to

  • work among survivors of Cyclone Nargis in Burma;
  • SBS Bicentenary project in north-east Brazil;
  • introduction of E100-Bible reading resource in New Zealand;
  • Jesus All about Life campaign in Australia, also “God's Story for the Outback” multimedia pack for indigenous children.

Saturday 19th June, 10.30 am - coffee served from 10 am Dundee Methodist Church General Church Meeting. There will be election of Church Stewards and representatives to the Church Council - please consider this prayerfully and give any nominations to the Rev Mary Patterson or a Church Steward.

  • Bible Society work in Kazakhstan;
  • we pray with and for the peoples of Kenya and Tanzania (WCC Prayer Calendar);
  • we remember fellow Methodists in Chippenham (Bristol District) and in Aberdeen (North of Scotland Mission Circuit).
