Christmas Celebrations

The Christmas Tree in Marketgait, as in recent years, has been purchased in support of the “Caring Christmas Trees” run by the Bethany Christian Trust to generate funds for their pilot Care Shelter in Dundee. See card at foot of Lectern for more details and / or www.bethanychristiantrust.com.

Support other Organisations

Scottish Bible Society

Our support through the Bible-a-Month Club is invited for work in December in Burkina Faso and in January in India. See noticeboard for more information.

Our prayerful attention is drawn this week to

  • completion of the translations of the New Testament into Toba del Oeste and Toba Sur for distribution in Argentina;
  • revision of the Aymara Bible in Bolivia, with notes & helps in the official alphabet;
  • celebrations of the 400th anniversary of the King James' Bible in 2011, also the People's Bible handwritten project in Scotland;
  • provision of subsidised Bibles for churches in Burkina Faso.

Prayer Points for this week

  • The President of Conference's visit to Malta from Wednesday;
  • residents and staff in the Newcastle-upon-Tyne District (Methodist Homes);
  • Al Ahli Arab Hospital's work in Gaza, especially through mobile clinics seeking to relieve chronic illness (BibleLands);
  • The Leprosy Mission's work in north central India;
  • partners in Gaza - Women's Affairs' Centre; Palestinian Medical Relief Society; Culture, Free Thought Association working in the Khan Yunis refugee cam (Christian Aid)
  • Bible Society work in Burkina Faso and India;
  • we pray with and for the peoples of Egypt, Israel / Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria (WCC Ecumenical Calendar);
  • we remember all in the Queen's Foundation and the Methodist Diaconal Centre (Birmingham District) and fellow Methodists in Greenock (Ayrshire & Renfrewshire Circuit).
