2011 - The Year of The Bible

As already intimated in recent news-sheets, consideration is being given to how all Dundee Methodists can join in responding to the invitation to the UK Churches to revitalise our reading and understanding of the Bible.

One proposal, for which the Rev Lily Twist is coordinating participation by our Methodist District, is for 'A Handwritten Bible' made and assembled from all parts of Scotland. Details are to come but please note this now as something in which our Circuit and congregations are to be actively involved.

Tom P also draws our attention to the marking of the 400th anniversary of the King James Version and the associated Biblefresh Campaign www.biblefresh.com

  • “Want to know more about the Bible? Why not join the Dundee Methodist 2011 Bible Book club, who are planning to read the Bible in a year? We'll be sharing a reading plan and meeting monthly to discuss what we've read and to encourage each other.”
  • “Feel you've read the Bible but want to dig deeper? The Fellowship Group will be meeting monthly to learn how we read and understand the Bible. Or why not join both groups and use 2011 as the year you get really stuck into the word of God.”
  • “Got an idea for the year of the Bible? Or an area where you don't feel confident but would like to learn more? Then let us know and we'll see what we can do.”
