Dundee Voluntary Action has sent an invitation to this event from 10 am to 6 pm on Thursday 11th June, forming part of Carers Week. If anyone wishes to attend as a representative of Dundee Methodists, please detach the reply slip from the letter on the Vestibule table, complete and return it to DVA as indicated, also advising the Rev David Firth that you have done so.

Church Membership Conversation

Rev Mary Patterson has arranged a series of evenings for conversation and exploration about Church Membership in Methodism on Thursdays 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th July. Our support through the Bible-a-Month Club is invited in May for work in Cambodia. See library area noticeboard for more information. Our prayerful attention is drawn this week to

  • SBS Annual General Meeting on Tuesday;
  • completion of the audio New Testament in Slovenia, to benefit the visually-impaired and elderly;
  • modern translation of the Bible in Croatia, aiming to be accessible to non-believers and young people;

“Alternatives”

The May 2009 newsletter & leaflet from CareConfidential is on the Vestibule table. The helpline is 01382 221112 and website www.careconfidential.com.

Faiths in Scotland Community Action Fund (FiSCAF)

FiSCAF is the acronym for the new body which has superseded the Scottish Churches Community Trust (SCCT) which itself took over the work in Scotland previously covered under Methodism's “Mission Alongside the Poor Fund”.

David Easson & Bill Reid represented Dundee Methodist Church and the Methodist Church in Scotland respectively at the National Launch in Discovery Point, Dundee, earlier this year. They have literature on the work of the Fund's involvement “with local faith groups as they build hope and struggle against poverty by providing grants and support in Scotland's most fragile urban and rural communities”.
