Support other Organisations

Scottish Bible Society

Our support through the Bible-a-Month Club is invited in September for work in Niger. See library area noticeboard for more information. Our prayerful attention is drawn this week to

  • work in Georgia where people are struggling with economic and social problems exacerbated by the recent turmoil;
  • meeting on Tuesday of senior staff teams from SBS and the Bible Society of England & Wales to foster closer relationships, also SBS Board meeting on Wednesday;
  • preparation for SBS visit to Brazil later this month in connection with the Special Project for SBS Bicentenary Year;
  • the local Society in Estonia as it seeks new opportunities for outreach.

Scottish Churches House: A Praying Community

Bruce & Elaine Cameron, Interim Co-Wardens, are seeking to further our prayer support for the House by initiating a “Wider Network of Prayer” whereby friends and supporters share in prayer each Wednesday from 1st October.

The invitation is to join in prayer, if possible at 9 am as House personnel gather in the Chapel or at another time that day, to specifically remember the House, its staff & guests, and its Programme, in prayer. To help make this “informed prayer”, the Co-Wardens hope to circulate a monthly list of items for thanksgiving or intercession, plus those who will be joining in the Wider Network.

If you would like to join this Network personally, contact the Wardens either in writing to “Wider Network of Prayer”, SCH, Dunblane, FK15 0AJ, or email: warden@scottishchurcheshouse.org, giving your name, address, phone & email address.

It is hoped that our weekly news-sheet Prayer Points will also make use of the SCH monthly list.

“Help us respond to the devastating floods in Bihar, India, which have affected more than 3 million people according to the Indian government. The floods cover a huge area and it could take at least three months for the waters to subside.” (www.christianaid.org.uk)
