Dundee Methodist Church

18 May 2008

Next Sunday: 30 March 2008

11 am
Worship led by Mr David Cowling

We give the assurance of our thoughts and prayers to all who are unwell, awaiting or undergoing treatment, or anxious or grieving for the loss of loved ones.

Broughty Ferry Pulpit Exchange

Today is being observed in some Ferry Churches as the annual Pulpit Exchange in which Jenny Easson will be taking part for Dundee Methodists by preaching in St Mary's Episcopal Church. Please note, however, that worship in Marketgait will not be led by the Rev Graham Taylor who offers his deep apologies for this late but necessary change. Graham has expressed his very real sense of being honoured at the invitation to conduct and share Communion with us; it is hoped that there will be provision on the Autumn Plan for him to do so.

Plans showing appointed Preachers

Plans for June - August are now available on the glass-topped Vestibule table. Please uplift and distribute to those unable to collect one in person.

World Church Sunday

On Sunday June 8th, the act of worship is being planned to include a presentation by Andree Ryan who last year was in the Israel - Palestine West Bank with EAPPI, the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel. There will be further opportunity for conversation over a shared faith lunch after.

There may also be Palestinian goods for sale.

Scottish Churches House Jubilee Appeal

The ACTS Forum meeting on May 8th was delighted to receive the news that the Jubilee Appeal has raised sufficient funds to enable Phase 1 of the House refurbishment programme to proceed. The Appeal will remain open until the end of this tax year as further public support is sought to cover proposed future phases of the Business Plan.

Both the Forum and the House Interim Management Group (IMG) have expressed warm gratitude to all who have contributed to the Appeal.

For details, see the Forum and IMG's press releases on the noticeboard, or ask David E (Methodist rep on Forum), Sandy (ACTS Trustee & Treasurer) or Jenny (Scottish Friends of Ecumenism Secretary).

Malcolm's retiral - memories requested

'tricia has ascertained that the Rev Malcolm Rothwell will be retiring from active Methodist Circuit ministry from 1st September this year and that there is to be a 'farewell do' for him at the end of this month (May).

She has it in mind to prepare and send him a 'wee booklet' (or similar) with greetings / memories / good wishes from friends in Dundee.

If you have (suitable!) memories or greetings, which you wish to be included, please contact her as soon as possible.
