We give the assurance of our thoughts and prayers to all who are unwell, awaiting or undergoing treatment, or anxious or grieving for the loss of loved ones.

Flower Rota

Elaine writes “I would like to thank everyone on the Flower Rota for this past year. The Flower Rota for 2009 will be available from next Sunday from the table at the top of the stairs. I do still have some vacant dates for 2009; if you feel you could help, please me.”

Our warm thanks are expressed to Elaine & Tom, as to all who gift and arrange the flowers each week. These not only contribute to our sense of worship but are much appreciated by those to whom they are given as a sign of our pastoral care.

Preaching Plans for December - February

Now available; please take and distribute to those unable to be in Marketgait.

Action for Children (formerly NCH)

December is the month when, traditionally, Dundee Methodists have focused on support for Methodism's “child and family-care arm”. Please therefore note opportunities to do so through

  • Communion Offering today
  • Offering on Christmas Day
  • Envelopes (please use for Gift Aid)

'Action for Children' (with 'Scotland' added in this country) is the latest 'new name' for NCH and should be used accordingly.

“Network News” Scotland magazine edition No 2 for 2009

Copies on the Vestibule table: please take and read.

Christmas Card Box

The “usual box” is now in place for 'posting' of cards destined for Dundee Methodists. These will be sorted ready for collection / distribution by family / neighbours and friends next Sunday or thereafter.

World Day of Prayer

A Methodist representative to the Dundee Committee is now sought to succeed Jean. Meetings are at 2.30 pm in Meadowside St Paul's Church Hall on Fridays 9th January, 13th February and 13th March 2009, to prepare for and report on the Day itself (Friday 6th March).

Contact Jean, Jenny or Mary Patterson if you can help : only females need apply!

“Prayer Magazine”

2 copies of Issue No 15 of this publication are on the Vestibule table. If you wish to take one, read and return it, the Revs Mary Patterson & David Firth would be interested to receive any comments or feedback.

Mission Partners' Request

Bill Reid (as Connexional Liaison Officer Scotland) has circulated information from Methodist Mission Partners in Tonga and Gambia, as follows:

  • Marlene Wilkinson (Tonga) has sent Christmas greetings
  • Mark & Sarah Jason (Gambia) will return to the UK on furlough in July - August, in Scotland from 2nd - 23rd August. They have a particular request for help in identifying accommodation for themselves and their 8-year old son Abishek and baby Paul Elijah (born late October). Their preference is for self-catering but B&B might suit. If you can help, please contact Bill through the District Office in Dunblane (01786 820295), or email wbillreid@aol.com.

Sound System

You will be pleased to hear that there is now a facility to play CDs or radio, as well as tapes, through our sound system and the T-loop system in the church. Last week it was used for the first time when we listened to a CD of Handel's “Messiah” as Advent 'early music'.
