“Songs of Praise”, St John's Methodist Church, 15 Ponderlaw, Arbroath (map)

We give the assurance of our thoughts and prayers to all who are unwell, awaiting or undergoing treatment, or anxious or grieving for the loss of loved ones.

“Songs of Praise Service”

Our friends in Arbroath invite us to join them in St John's Church, Ponderlaw Street, next Sunday at 3 pm to celebrate the tercentenary of the birth of Charles Wesley (1707-1788). There will be refreshments afterwards. A copy of the Order of Service is on the downstairs noticeboard.

Property

Clare has recently indicated her resignation after a long period of being responsible for the cleaning of our premises. Warmest thanks are expressed to her for all she has done in the care of our premises and for those who use them.

Welcome Service for Chair of Synod

A warm invitation is extended to ALL Methodists & friends to the Service at 2.30 pm in Dunblane Cathedral on Saturday 1st September to welcome the Rev Lily Twist and her husband Colin to Scotland. After formal worship there will be opportunity to meet old and new friends over refreshments in the adjacent Cathedral Halls.

It is hoped that each circuit and church will be as well represented as possible and many will come to share in the hospitality and friendship of the day. Please give your name(s) now or as soon as possible to a Church Steward if you hope to go: the Planning Group have requested an idea of numbers during this week if possible for catering and printing purposes. This may also aid in coordinating transport - David Firth has already offered lifts.

United Nations Millennium Development Goals

  • promotion of micro-finance programmes address poverty alleviation and women's empowerment
  • programme through a Ghanaian organisation in partnership with Methodist Relief and Development Fund for purchase of shea nuts to process into shea butter, leads to income-generating activities (grain, pomade-making) thus enabling support of children's schooling
