Support other Organisations
What does our “coffee money” do?
The money given for coffee after worship goes (usually) to 2 Methodist Funds - those for “Overseas Missions” and “Home Missions”.
The Methodist Fund for World Mission supports
- Mission partners: selected and trained in Britain, then serving at the invitation of partner churches in other parts of the world;
- Nationals in Mission Appointments: enabling the development of mission through local people in their own countries;
- World Church in Britain partnerships: bringing overseas Presbyters (Ministers) to serve in 5-year appointments in Britain, to enrich the life and faith of the British Church;
- Scholarship Students: enabling men and women to study courses in cross-cultural settings, providing leadership development for partner churches, and resourcing the host country (2/3 study in Britain & Ireland, 1/3 'South to South' ie remaining in southern hemisphere);
- Grants to overseas churches, ecumenical and other organisations given in 2 ways
- Block grants enable overseas partners to determine their own priorities
- Special grants facilitate specific projects.
“Home Missions” information next week …

- Rising sales of Bibles in Latvia, also ministry to street children, teenage mothers, and the visually-impaired;
- Further funding for the successful Bible Exhibition in Lithuania;
- Appointments of Area Coordinators in Aberdeen and the Ayrshire coast;
- Visitors to the Bible Centre in Vienna.
Christian Aid - “The Beat Goes On” - July 8th
A year after the G8 Summit at Gleneagles, the campaign 'to make poverty history' continues
its pressure on the UK Government in a DRUMMING CAMPAIGN.
'Summer Drumming' includes events in July and September to “beat out our new trade
justice demand for the Government to cut funding to the IMF and World Bank”.
There is also a “Campaigners' Day” being organised for
Saturday September 9th in Colinton Parish Church Rooms, Edinburgh - see red
leaflet on downstairs notice board.
