We give the assurance of our thoughts and prayers to all who are unwell, awaiting or undergoing treatment, or anxious or grieving for the loss of loved ones.

Pastoral Committee

• the need for ways in which we can all meet & get to know each other better, and share our stories of life and faith. This might be through
  • a District group (which includes people from our own and other Circuits) offering a 4-session course “Growing from the Inside Out”
  • much-commended “Time To Talk Of God” booklet - a supply has been bought for use within the Circuit
  • events and outings of a social nature;
• The Pastoral Committee has asked that the whole congregation consider this concern during the General Church Meeting on Sunday 4th June.
• marking of the Scotland District 'Prayer Without Ceasing' Week (11th - 18th August) in Dundee, especially on Thursday 17th allocated to our Circuit for particular focus. This may also be discussed in the Worship Group on 31st May - 'tricia is our local contact person;
• Rev Mary Patterson's Sabbatical from October to December this year;
• next Committee meeting on Wednesday 30th August at 7.30 pm.

Induction Service

On Wednesday night David E represented Dundee Methodists (as one of our representatives to the Broughty Ferry Churches Group) at the Induction Service and Welcome Social for the Rev Catherine Collins in Broughty Ferry New Kirk. Several hundred people were present for the three parts - the formal and very warm service in the church, (copious) refreshments in the hall, and the more relaxed social back in the church. Typical of the welcome shown to the new Minister was the choir's rendition in the social of “Consider yourself one of the family” from 'Oliver'. It is hoped that some day we, in our turn, will welcome Mrs Collins to Marketgait during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity annual Pulpit Exchange.

Scottish Bible Society

• Our support through the Bible-a-Month Club is invited in April for work in Palestine. See library area noticeboard for details.
• Our prayerful attention is drawn this week to
  • successful Year of the Bible campaign in The Gulf States; growing church involvement in distributing the Megavoice audio Scripture player;
  • work of the Bible Society in Jordan during change in its local work and provision of a base for work in Iraq;
  • 'Oxygen' youth event in Bathgate High Church on Friday;
  • Bible Society in Spain working through Bible Days, fresh versions, and the Internet to encourage study.
