Dundee Methodist Church

23 October 2005

We give the assurance of our thoughts and prayers to all who are unwell, awaiting or undergoing treatment, or anxious or grieving for the loss of loved ones.

One World Week

This year's theme is 'Promises, promises': please look out for / support local events, and maintain 'Make Poverty History' pressure.

Link Club - Volunteer Minibus Escort

The Link Club urgently needs to recruit a minibus escort for the Wednesday morning session of the Club. We cannot run the bus without an escort who accompanies the driver around the city, collecting Club members, bringing them to Marketgait, and then taking them home at lunchtime. This is an important and enjoyable role within the Club - can you help us or do you know someone who might be interested? More information from Lorna, or speak to any Club helper.

UNICEF “Jars of Grace”

  • This year's Appeal focuses on immunisation programmes, which save the lives of as many as 3 million children annually and prevent some 750,000 cases of blindness, paralysis, and mental disability. Yet, every year over 30 million children are not immunised and over 2 million still die unnecessarily because they have no access to vaccines.
  • UNICEF is the world's greatest purchaser of vaccines for developing countries. As a global leader in vaccine supply, UNICEF reaches 40% of the world's children.
  • The six vaccine-preventable childhood killing diseases are whooping cough, measles, tetanus, polio, TB, diphtheria - for further information see www.vaccinealliance.org; www.polioeradication.org; www.unicef.org.
