29 May 2005
We give the assurance of our thoughts and prayers to all who are unwell, awaiting or undergoing treatment, or anxious or grieving for the loss of loved ones.
General Church Meeting
The annual General Church Meeting will take place today after worship to give an opportunity for discussion of the life of our Church. Everyone is invited to take part in the Meeting, which has responsibility for electing the Church Stewards (1 known vacancy), representatives to the Church Council (1 known vacancy), and auditors. This is also an important opportunity for sharing in conversation about matters of current concern and the way ahead.
Please note that the Church Council decided to take the opportunity to hold a practice “Emergency Fire Evacuation” at the close of the GCM.
Pastoral Committee
Will members please collect papers from Jenny (or red tray) for meeting on Wednesday.

Support other Organisations
NCH – Families Project
Good news that the Project is a finalist in the Care Accolade Awards of
the Scottish Social Services Council in category 3: ‘for best initiative
to promote partnership working’. The Awards ceremony is being held in Glasgow
next Sunday, 5th June.
The Project is increasingly attracting praise for its success in tackling anti-social
behaviour by tenants. On a recent visit, the Deputy Communities Minister Johann Lamont,
MSP, gave it the ‘seal of approval’ as ‘a model that worked’.
Scottish Bible Society
The Bible-a-Month Club invites our support in June for work in Rwanda, where illiteracy
is high. Bible Society graded easy-to-read Scripture booklets assist children and adults
in gaining readings skills, as well as hearing of God’s love for them. See library area
noticeboard for more details.

District Networking Day (formerly “Officers’ Day”). This is open
to “anyone who is interested in sharing what is happening locally and nationally
in the Methodist Church in Scotland”.
The Day will include workshops / small group discussions led by people from within the
Resource Units networks, on such topics as
- disability issues in the church
- ‘Prayer without Ceasing’ initiative to be launched at Conference in June,
- priorities for our discipleship and development of new work to support us all,
- “Sharing our faith” – exploring how we might tell the story of our
faith journeys among ourselves and to others.
Last year’s enjoyable Day at Rosyth led to the development of new areas of work
and more people being involved across the District. Soup and sandwich lunch will be
provided - more details, including travel information, in leaflets coming from the
District Office in Dunblane in the next week or so.
The Day is open to anyone interested and everyone is asked
to think seriously about coming to meet and share with our Methodist
sisters and brothers from other parts of Scotland.
