We give the assurance of our thoughts and prayers to all who are unwell, awaiting or undergoing treatment, or anxious or grieving for the loss of loved ones.

Pastoral Committee résumé

At the recent meeting the Committee

  • continued to ‘monitor’ the working of pastoral charge in Dundee under the Circuit’s Team Ministry;
  • noted the transfers-in of Membership of Hilary P, Matthew P, Heather D, and Winifred W;
  • accepted the resignation of Margaret and Douglas as Pastoral Visitors, expressed thanks to them, and considered arrangements for care of members in Fife;
  • heard appreciation of the “Come As You Are” course and expressed support for a ‘repeat’ at some point;
  • welcomed the proposed “Nurturing House Groups” meeting in Dunblane (see above), the theme for the May Synod of “Vocations”, and the forthcoming Report to Conference on “Discipleship”;
  • expressed appreciation of the successful Christmas Informal Buffet Lunch coordinated by the Committee after worship on December 19th;
  • heard from the Rev David Firth of a requested (from Hong Kong) Wedding in Marketgait on Saturday 11th June.
  • agreed the date of next meeting for Wednesday 1st June at 7.30 pm

On the Vestibule Table

  • Network News Scotland : Issue No 1 for 2005 is now available. It contains details / booking forms for forthcoming events.
  • “Momentum” - ‘pilot copies’ of a new Methodist newspaper are available free: please take, read, pass on, and give “feedback” as indicated or to Jenny (Scotland Synod rep to Methodist Council).
  • A brief Christian Aid Trade Justice Video - can be borrowed by anyone and returned for further viewing.

Support other Organisations

Scottish Bible Society

In March we are invited to support work in the West Indies - see library area noticeboard.

Our attention is drawn this week to

  • those who have the exacting task of translating the Bible into contemporary Russian
  • Hungarian Bible Society plans to distribute Scriptures among refugees, and Bible Society in Slovenia plans to distribute 4,300 sets of illustrated Bible books, free of charge, for use by teachers in nurseries
  • Council of Church Representatives meeting on Thursday.
