Dundee Methodist Church

4 MAY 2003

We give the assurance of our thoughts and prayers to all who are unwell, awaiting or undergoing treatment, or anxious or grieving for the loss of loved ones.

General Church Meeting

The GCM next Sunday after worship is the “official occasion” at which ALL who belong to Dundee Methodist Church may share in discussion and decision about our life together — as a congregation, a community in relationship with others, and as part of the Angus Dundee & Perthshire Circuit and wider Methodism. It is important that there is good support.

Please note the following, which will form part of the meeting:

  • Election of Church Stewards* & representatives
  • Finance report & Stewards’ Report
  • Our life together — the “small groups’ process”
  • Circuit staffing and resourcing — “opportunity knocks”

If there are other matters which you wish to raise, it would be helpful if these could be intimated in advance to the Minister or to the Church Council Secretary, Elizabeth R.

* nomination & election of 2 Stewards in our Team of 6, ie the existing vacancy and a replacement for Clare who comes to the end of her double three-year period in office - please contact the Minister, David E (Senior Church Steward) or any Church Steward to assist in having a full Team, thanks.

Easter Offerings

Envelopes may still be returned via the Offering Plate. Please note Gift Aid provisions on the back.

NCH

  • April is designated “bedroom” month in our request for surplus items for use by the Cowan Grove and Families projects.
  • New Project in Dundee — the Children’s Hearing Project will seek to help 12-16 year-olds involved in persistent offending. This will contain intensive supervision, mentoring by volunteers, family support, and the addressing of educational, housing and leisure needs. A family worker for the project will be based in the Families Project, whilst most of the rest of the staff will be based with the Alternatives to Custody project; there will be connections with all the existing NCH projects in Dundee.
  • Cowan Grove is happy to receive anything that would be useful in setting up a flat, and can sometimes accept electrical goods if the intended recipient is prepared to pay a small sum for it to be checked over for safety. Fridges especially welcome!
  • Margaret is our contact person with NCH.
